    In terms of conversion efficiency, it has been possible to achieve an efficiency of over 98%. It also integrates multiple functions and algorithms. For instance, this chip integrates voltage rise and fall control and MPPT algorithm, and is equipped with an 11-bit high-precision ADC for voltage, current and NTC thermistor detection.
    This is also the mainstream direction of current buck-boost charging ics. In the future, buck-boost charging ics will integrate more functions, such as battery protection, power monitoring, communication interfaces, etc. Realizing multi-functional integration can reduce the number of external components, lower system costs and volume, and enhance the reliability and integration of the system. It includes integrating functions such as overcharge protection, overdischarge protection, and overcurrent protection within the chip to provide comprehensive protection for the battery.
In addition, for instance, InChip's IP5389 supports bidirectional charging and discharging as well as multi-interface protocols (such as USB-C, Lightning, etc.), and is applied in portable energy storage power supplies and outdoor equipment. Zhongying Electronics' SH367309 supports ‌5-16 string battery management ‌, integrates overcharge/overdischarge protection and balancing functions, and is suitable for grid-level energy storage requirements.
    Functionally speaking, the bidirectional buck-boost function has now become mainstream, enabling the chip to perform both charging and discharging operations. It usually also has all-round protection functions, including input
Voltage protection, battery overvoltage, input overcurrent, peak current protection and over-temperature protection, etc.
    In the future, intelligent management functions will also be introduced, such as adaptive charging algorithms and battery health status monitoring. By monitoring the battery status and environmental conditions in real time, charging parameters are automatically adjusted to achieve personalized charging strategies, thereby enhancing the battery's service life and performance. At the same time, it is equipped with fault diagnosis and early warning functions, which can promptly identify and handle potential problems to ensure the safe operation of the system.
     With the continuous development of battery technology and the emergence of new types of batteries such as solid-state batteries and lithium-sulfur batteries, voltage-boosting charging ics need to be able to adapt to the charging characteristics and requirements of these new types of batteries. Develop charging algorithms and control strategies specifically for new types of batteries to ensure their safe and efficient charging.
