Arm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARM, "Arm") announced that it has officially launched a new extension designed specifically for GitHub Copilot. GitHub Copilot is one of the most widely deployed artificial intelligence (AI) developer tools in the world, and this extension gives millions of Copilot users easier access to Arm. Architecture technology and provide a more user-friendly experience for developers. In addition, for the first time, this release provides developers worldwide with a complete CI/CD workflow based on the Arm platform for free, including GitHub Actions, Arm Runners, and Arm extensions for GitHub Copilot.
Alex Spinelli, senior vice president of AI Platforms and Developer Platforms and Services at Arm, said: "In today's fast-paced technology environment, developers need tools that streamline workflows, reduce costs, and increase efficiency, and AI-assisted tools are quickly becoming an indispensable addition. In fact, more than 25 percent of developers are using AI-assisted tools for tasks such as code generation, test case creation, bug repair, and security detection, achieving significant productivity gains."
According to a recent Accenture report, GitHub Copilot increases programming speed by 55 percent and developer confidence by 85 percent. Copilot now has more than 1 million paying users in more than 20,000 businesses who use it an average of 3.4 days per week. The Arm extension is designed for GitHub Copilot to simplify migration to the Arm architecture, shorten development cycles and reduce costs. The extension is initially focused on server and cloud environments, with plans to expand further into use cases such as mobile, iot, software-defined vehicles and Windows on Arm development in the future. Developers can simply type "@arm" into the GitHub Copilot Chat to get selected code examples, best practices, migration strategies, and performance optimization tips for developing for the Arm architecture.
Rinat Shagisultanov, vice president of Modern Dev and DevOps Services Technology at InfoMagnus, said: "The Arm extension for GitHub Copilot is enough to reshape the development landscape for developers. Today, developers can take full advantage of Arm's internal functions and architectural features to significantly improve software performance and efficiency. This extension will greatly simplify the migration of workloads to Arm servers, which are not only less costly and more energy efficient, but also widely deployed in the cloud. In addition, users can easily create ARM-native CI/CD and MLOps workflows with the newly released Arm Runners for GitHub Actions."
Jeremy Sinclair, Software and application Security Architect and Microsoft's Most Valuable Expert (MVP) in Windows Development and.NET, said: "What impressed me about the Arm extension was not only its ability to aid in writing code, but also its ability to provide background information about how the Arm architecture actually works. When I asked how to set up CI/CD for Kubernetes, instead of a generic answer, it gave me a direct Arm learning path and actual documentation. "Instead of generic, useless guidance, Arm provides sound architecture-specific guidance, which is critical to improving development efficiency."

Arm extensions and native CI/CD for GitHub Copilot: Powerful help for developers
As the Arm Intelligence platform continues to be updated with selected data and best practices, the Arm extension will continue to evolve to support a wider range of application scenarios, including:
Generative AI: Simplify the creation and deployment of AI applications.
Mobile and Gaming: Optimize application performance on the Arm platform.
Iot and software-defined vehicles: Create seamless workflows for efficient deployment from "cloud to edge" and "cloud to vehicle."
Today, Arm offers a complete integrated development environment, including CI/CD and MLOps workflows that are implemented with ARM-hosted Runners from GitHub Actions. In addition, GitHub recently released the free GitHub Runners for Arm, which gives developers easy access to fully integrated native Arm workflows, streamlining the development process from cloud to edge for all types of markets.
With GitHub Actions, developers can build end-to-end MLOps workflows that combine and automate the various steps in the machine learning (ML) lifecycle. When these workflows run natively on the Arm platform, developers are able to unlock significant advantages for AI/ML applications, especially when it comes to cloud-to-edge optimization.
Arm extensions designed for GitHub Copilot provide developers with tailored, architecture-relevant answers to further increase productivity. With this extension, developers can easily leverage Arm architecture features, such as BF16 and I8MM, in native Azure Cobalt 100 GitHub Runners, as well as the latest Armv9 architecture features, including SVE2, which significantly improves ML performance.
GitHub Actions, the latest Cobalt 100 native Arm Runners and Arm extensions designed specifically for GitHub Copilot will help developers streamline workflows, optimize costs and achieve better outcomes at every stage of the MLOps jour

The broad future of development based on Arm architecture

As Arm continues to improve the extension, future versions will support a broader range of device types, including Android, gaming platforms, embedded systems, and software-defined cars.
Arm is committed to being a trusted platform for developers and will continue to work with ecosystem partners to ensure developers benefit from the latest Arm platform capabilities from the start of their projects in any computing domain.
