TPS42S40Q Gauge level high side power switch

   3PEAK (stock code: 688536), a supplier of high-performance analog and digital-analog hybrid products, introduces the automotive high-edge power switch TPS42S40Q. Integrated MOS power FETs and charge pumps are designed for intelligent control of resistive, inductive and capacitive loads. It can be widely used in automotive domain control, ADAS, power system, camera, transmission, air conditioning, cabin and other fields.

TPS42S40Q product advantages
High precision current detection

    The TPS42S40Q provides excellent current detection accuracy. For loads 1A and above, the detection accuracy is 3%, as shown in Figure 1; For 50mA and above loads, the detection accuracy is 7%, as shown in Figure 2. Precise current sensing enables easy identification of load status and measurement of load current.

Precise current limiting
    The TPS42S40Q provides very precise current limiting at Vs=13.5V. When the current limiting threshold is set at 0.5A, the limiting accuracy can reach ±20% in the whole temperature range. When the current limiting threshold is set at 1.6A, the limiting accuracy is ±14% in the whole temperature range, as shown in Figure 3.

Low on-resistance
    The nominal on-resistance value of the TPS42S40Q is 100mΩ, which is negatively correlated with the supply voltage and positively correlated with the temperature. This means that under the same operating conditions, the lower the temperature and the higher the supply voltage, the lower the on-resistance, as shown in Figure 4.

Excellent dynamic response
    The TPS42S40Q has excellent dynamic response performance under the operating conditions of VS=13.5V, IOUT=4A, CS=300ohm, IN OFF. After the input is turned off, the slope of the turn-off process is matched, and the slope is controlled at ±0.15V/μs, and the output voltage and current reach the steady state at 80μs to complete the turn-off. As shown in Figure 5.

    Under the operating conditions of VS=13.5V, IOUT=4A, CS=300ohm IN start-up, the TPS42S40Q performs slope matching after input startup, and controls the slope at ±0.15V/μs, and the output voltage and current reach a steady state at 110μs to achieve stable output. As shown in Figure 6.
