The cleaning appliance market is at a critical stage driven by both technological iteration and product innovation. The demands for intelligent upgrading, functional integration and cost optimization are intertwined, accelerating the reconstruction of the industry's competitive landscape. Against this backdrop, how to precisely match the technical characteristics of different cleaning appliance categories and select control solutions that are supported by computing power, have functional compatibility and cost advantages has become the core issue for manufacturers to enhance the competitiveness of their products.
At the 8th Electric Tool Control and Charging Technology Seminar and Clean Appliance Technology Innovation Forum, Liang Feng, the product Marketing Manager of the MCU Division of GigaDevice, delivered a targeted presentation. As a practitioner deeply engaged in the application field of chips for cleaning appliances, Liang Feng, based on industry trends, the practical experience of GigaDevice's full range of products, and customer cooperation cases, provided professional perspectives and practical references for cleaning appliance enterprises to select appropriate control solutions from dimensions such as technology adaptation, cost balance, and scenario implementation.
The control scheme has become the breakthrough point for the industry
After more than two decades of development, the cleaning appliance industry has witnessed increasingly fierce technological competition. Liang Feng pointed out that the product matrix of mainstream manufacturers has gradually extended from core categories such as sweepers, floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and window guards to niche fields like garden robots, swimming pool robots, and lawn mowers, with the industry penetration rate continuously rising.
From the perspective of core products, the sweeping robot has been continuously upgraded in terms of intelligence and technological experience. Functions such as map creation, obstacle avoidance, automatic cleaning, mechanical arm control, and remote control have become more mature. The floor scrubber has made a leap from "usable" to "easy to use", and has significant advantages in cleaning hard floors, handling dry and wet mixed garbage, and cleaning power. This places higher demands on the main control chip (MCU) : on the one hand, it is necessary to continuously enhance computing power to meet the demands of intelligence; on the other hand, as the solution for vacuum cleaners is evolving from a "main control + floor brush + wireless module separated" model to an integrated one, the MCU also needs to have rich on-chip resources such as large packaging, multiple IO ports, and multiple serial ports.

As one of the world's top ten 32-bit general-purpose MCU manufacturers, GigaDevice has built a rich product matrix in response to the demands of the cleaning appliance industry. By internal computing power, its products cover M4 to M33 cores with a main frequency of approximately 150MHz. Given that triangular lasers, dToF, and line lidars are widely used in cleaning products and have strict cost requirements, GigaDevice has made a breakthrough in entry-level low-cost products. Its GD32E235 series, GD32F31x series, and GD32W515 series have all been successfully applied in this field. In addition, in response to the core demands of intelligent products for wireless functions, GigaDevice has also provided corresponding products simultaneously.
The core products cover all scene demands
Several products of GigaDevice have been widely applied in the industry. Among them, the GD32VW553 dual-mode wireless MCU supports Wi-Fi 6 and BLE 5.2, has rich IO resources, and can be perfectly adapted to the application of floor scrubbers. This chip adopts the RISC-V core, with a main frequency of up to 160MHz. It supports up to 4MB of Flash and 320KB of SRAM. It also integrates security modules such as CAU, HAU, TRNG, CRC, ECC, and EFUSE to ensure data security. Gigadevice has simultaneously launched four modules based on this chip, positioning them as "extreme cost Wi-Fi 6 modules", further lowering the application threshold for customers.

Another important product is the GD32W515 MCU, which adopts Cortex? The M33 core has a main frequency of up to 180MHz, featuring a large storage capacity, supporting up to 2MB of Flash and 448KB of SRAM. It also adopts QFN36 and QFN56 small package designs, making it suitable for space-constrained scenarios.
Liang Feng stated that in response to the market's sensitive demand for costs, GigaDevice has selected products from the GD32 series to form a value-added product line, achieving the goal of optimizing costs while moderately balancing computing power and resources. Take GD32C231 as an example. It adopts ARM? Cortex? -M23 core, supporting A wide supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, with a deep sleep current of less than 5μA; In response to the security requirements of industrial scenarios, the storage unit integrates ECC and CRC verification functions, providing critical security guarantees for entry-level products. Currently, this product is applicable in the field of cleaning appliances for scenarios such as small single motor control, low-cost battery management, and small sensor node-type MCU control.
Three major solutions directly address the pain points of cleaning appliances
At this conference, GigaDevice presented multiple cleaning appliance product solutions based on the GD32 series chips.
The first one is the integrated solution of GD32F5+GD32VW553 floor scrubber: among them, GD32F5, with its rich resources, is responsible for the control of multiple types of motors (including brushless motors, brushed motors, servos, and tachometer wheels) and the drive of LCD serial port screens. The GD32VW553 is responsible for wireless communication control functions, supports Bluetooth network distribution via wechat mini-programs, and can also complete network distribution in SoftAP mode through Alibaba Cloud's "Cloud Intelligence". It can also demonstrate the start and stop operations of motors.
The second one is a laser solution for obstacle avoidance lines jointly developed with partner Huanchuang. It takes the GD32W515 chip as the core and is compatible with both CMOS and laser sensors simultaneously. This solution can achieve millimeter-level laser ranging scanning at a fixed scanning rate of frames per second within a 115° field of view, and generate spatial planar point cloud information, providing precise data support for obstacle avoidance in cleaning equipment.

The third item is a one-stop cleaning appliance solution, with a complete hardware architecture constructed by GD32E503 MCU and GD30BM2016 BMS AFE chip. Among them, the GD30BM2016 BMS AFE chip is powerful and supports 3-16 string battery voltage detection. The voltage detection accuracy of the 16-bit ADC reaches ±5mV. It is equipped with 1 built-in temperature sensor and can be externally connected to 9 NTC resistors for temperature measurement. Supports up to 8 strings for simultaneous equalization, with a maximum equalization current of 80mA. Supports multiple protections such as COV, CUV, and SCD; Integrated high-performance high-side driver, supporting parallel port and serial port charging and discharging modes. The entire solution supports the SOC/SOH algorithm for ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate batteries, featuring real-time monitoring, alarm and protection functions for parameters such as voltage, current and temperature. It has multiple communication interfaces to achieve interactive control with the BMU, and can also manage the battery cells in a balanced manner based on the balanced management strategy, enhancing the consistency of the cells and extending their service life. This solution can be applied to sweepers, floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners and mobile household storage devices.

Liang Feng pointed out that the cleaning appliance sector is one of the core strategic application segments of GigaDevice. It not only holds an important position in the company's overall business layout but also continuously provides key support for performance growth. Relying on years of technological accumulation and product iteration, GigaDevice has built a full product matrix covering different sub-scenarios and computing power requirements of cleaning appliances. More importantly, GigaDevice has always strictly controlled product quality with strict standards. The outstanding performance of its chips in terms of stability, security and compatibility has been widely recognized by industry customers, forming a good market reputation and customer stickiness. In the future, GigaDevice will continue to focus on the intelligent and integrated development trends of the cleaning appliance industry, deepen technological research and development and product innovation, and continuously launch chips and solutions that are more in line with scene requirements and have more cost advantages.
