WPG Quanta Group has launched an AI electronic fence solution based on Qualcomm and Thundercomm products
On July 16, 2025, WPG Holdings, a leading international semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary, Quanta, has launched an AI electronic fence solution based on Qualcomm QCS6490 SoC and Thundercomm Turbox C6490 development board.

Against the backdrop of the upgrading of global security demands and the deep integration of Internet of Things (iot) technology, electronic fences, as a new generation of intelligent security solutions, are accelerating their evolution from traditional physical protection to intelligent and data-driven directions. Relying on technologies such as AI and remote communication, electronic fences can accurately identify and predict intrusion behaviors, effectively reducing false alarm rates. At the same time, by integrating big data analysis, they can achieve real-time perception and intelligent decision-making of security situations. The AI electronic fence solution developed by WPG based on Qualcomm QCS6490 SoC and Thundercomm Turbox C6490 development board features real-time monitoring and intrusion detection capabilities, and can bring efficient and flexible intelligent security deployment to fields such as industry, commerce, and smart cities.

QCS6490 is a high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) specifically designed for industrial and commercial Internet of Things (iot) applications. It supports Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity and integrates multi-camera processing, AI acceleration, and edge computing capabilities to meet the demands of advanced iot devices, delivering outstanding performance under low power consumption conditions. In terms of processing performance, this chip is equipped with Qualcomm Kryo? The 670 CPU and Hexagon processor, featuring a converged AI accelerator architecture, can efficiently handle complex computations and real-time data, while providing stable and reliable connection capabilities. In addition, the QCS6490 is multi-operating system compatible, supporting Android, Linux, Ubuntu and Microsoft Windows IoT Enterprise, and can flexibly adapt to diverse scenario requirements such as industrial automation, intelligent security and smart retail.
The Thunderconn Turbox C6490 development board is based on the Qualcomm QCS6490 processor and supports Wi-Fi 6E, long-range Bluetooth and optional 5G NR connectivity capabilities. And it is equipped with 5 4-channel MIPI CSI D-PHY interfaces (two of which support 3-channel MIPI CSI C-PHY and can support up to 48M cameras). In addition, the C6490 development board is equipped with a rich array of peripheral interfaces, including concurrent use of USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 as well as a PCIE interface, fully meeting the development requirements of high-performance AIoT devices. Not only that, to support the development of different application scenarios, Turbox C6490 adopts a modular design, with components including the main IO board, adapter board, audio board and sensor board, which can help customers accelerate the product development process and performance verification.

This solution adopts the Yolo-NAS pedestrian detection AI model and combines it with the manually set warning area function. When the AI model detects pedestrians, it will mark them. If a pedestrian's sign stays in the warning area for about one second, the system will automatically issue a warning and send relevant pictures. To ensure timely notification to relevant personnel, this solution supports integration through the back-end apis of Line Notify and other third-party communication applications. With the help of these communication software, relevant personnel can receive warning messages and on-site photos in real time, and thus make accurate judgments quickly based on the content of the photos and take corresponding measures.Core technological advantages
