Dailian Dayoushang Group launches 140W PD3.1 GaN charger solution based on Diodes products

Nowadays, the high-power fast charge technology of smart devices has become the focus of general attention of consumers. In this context, gallium nitride, as an emerging semiconductor material, is gradually becoming a new favorite in the field of fast charge with its excellent energy conversion efficiency, fast response ability and low heat loss characteristics. At the same time, the release of the USB PD3.1 protocol is to promote the charging efficiency to a new level, the protocol not only significantly improves the charging power, but also introduces multi-voltage gear, making the fast charging technology more flexible, so as to meet the charging needs of all kinds of smart devices. In view of this trend, we are introducing a 140W PD3.1 GaN charger solution based on Diodes AP3306, APR3401 and AP43771H controllers with a patented ACF topology that meets DOE VI and COC Tier 2 efficiency requirements. And the solution supports PD3.1 function and AVS 28V, step size of 100mV, can reduce the overall BOM cost.

The device is composed of three main controllers AP3306, APR3401 and AP43771H. The AP3306 is a highly integrated active clamped flyback (ACF) controller optimized for off-line power supplies to meet the needs of ultra-low standby power consumption, high power density and comprehensive protection. The APR3401 is a secondary side synchronous rectifier (SR) controller that can be used as a rectifier in the DCM operation of synchronous secondary side MOSFET drivers, providing solutions that effectively reduce secondary side rectifier power consumption and provide high performance. AP43771H is a protocol decoder that is responsible for connecting USB Type-C? The charging device (DUC) matches the relevant charger capacity and request, and adjusts the charger feedback network to meet the voltage and current requirements of the DUC. In addition, the solution uses gallium nitride (GaN) FETs to further improve charging efficiency and thermal performance.
