Achieving high power density at a compact size has become a core goal of current industrial power supply design. To achieve this, engineers must consider all aspects of the design. In this context, based on onsemi NCP5156x chip, the company launched a dual-channel isolated driver IC evaluation board solution, aiming to shorten the design cycle of power products through excellent isolation performance, efficient drive capability and convenient evaluation environment.
Figure 2- Scenario application diagram of onsemi based dual-channel isolation driver IC evaluation board solution
The NCP5156x series is an isolated dual-channel gate driver from onsemi with 4.5A/9A pull and feed current peaks designed for fast switching drive power MOSFETs and SiC. The NCP5156x series offers short and matched propagation delays, an independent 5kVRMS internal current isolated input to each output and an internal feature isolated output driver between the two, allowing operating voltages up to 1500VDC. In addition, the driver is extremely flexible and can be configured as two low-side switches, two high-side switches, or a half-bridge driver with programmable dead time. With the ENA/DIS pin, users can easily set high or low respectively in ENABLE and DISABLE mode, enabling or disabling both outputs at the same time. In addition, the NCP5156x provides other important protection features, such as independent undervoltage lock time adjustment for gate drives and Dead zones.
