XPM5218 is a synchronous buck converter with integrated switch tube, supports a variety of fast charging protocols such as USB Type-C and PD, and provides a complete solution for power supply devices such as car chargers, various fast charging adapters, and smart plugins.
    The XPM5218 supports several fast charging protocols, including USB Type-C and PD protocols, Qualcomm QC2.0/3.0, Huawei FCP/SCP, Samsung AFC, USB BC1.2 DCP, and Apple 2.4A charging specification.
    The XPM5218 supports a wide input voltage range from 6.6V to 36V. The output voltage ranges from 3.6V to 12V, and is adjusted according to the charging protocol to provide a maximum output power of 30W. The PDO configurations of the XPM5218A are 5V/3A and 9V/2A, and the PDO configurations of the XPM5218B are 5V/3A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5A.
    XPM5218 adopts PWM current mode control, which can quickly respond to transient load changes. XPM5218 has a switching frequency of 150KHz and unique buffeting technology to reduce EMI and help customers pass certification.
    The output of XPM5218 has constant voltage and constant current characteristics. When the output current is less than the limit value, it is in constant voltage mode; When the output current reaches the limit value, it is in constant current mode. The output voltage has a line supplement function, and the output voltage will be increased correspondingly with the increase of the output current to compensate for the voltage drop caused by the internal resistance of the charging cable.
    The XPM5218 offers very high reliability with input voltages up to 42V and all pin ESD over 8KV. At the same time, it has a variety of protection functions: input overvoltage and undervoltage protection, output overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, short-circuit burp protection, etc.
