HT8696,HT8697 Function description and application information:
input configuration
The HT8696,7 accepts an analog differential or single-ended audio signal input and produces a PWM pulse output signal to drive the speaker.
For differential inputs, the input is fed to the IN+ and IN- terminals through the isolating capacitor CIN and the input resistance RIN, respectively. System gain Av=1150k RIN (Class D mode for HT8696 and HT8697) or Av=500k RIN (Class AB mode for HT8697), input RC high-pass filter cutoff frequency fc 1 (2πRINCIN).
For single-ended inputs, they are coupled to the IN+ end via CIN. The In-terminal must be grounded through the input resistance and capacitance (same as CIN and RIN values). Enhanced Av and cutoff frequency fc are the same as for differential input.
Note The output impedance ZOUT of the front circuit of the system should not exceed 600Ω.

HT8696,HT8697 power amplifier output
In general, the output can be directly connected to the load horn. If the output line at the output end is long, or the EMI requirements are high, you can choose to add ferrite magnetic beads or LC filter (Class D).
In addition, if the power supply voltage is large (> 8.5V), the ripple is serious, or the input signal amplitude is large (≥1.0Vrms), or the load horn impedance is small (< 4Ω), it is necessary to increase the power capacitor (at least 100uF), and add the Snubber circuit and Schottky diode at the output end (Figure 2). Prevent chip exceptions.
Recommended parameters:
Rs: 1.5 ~ 2Ω;
Cs: 330pF~680pF;
Ds: forward average current ≥2A; Forward surge peak current ≥6A; Forward voltage (IF=1A) ≤0.38V.
ABD Mode Settings (HT8697 Only)
Input high level at ABDL or ABDR side, L channel or R channel of HT8697 is in Class D mode, system gain Av=1150k RIN.
Input low level at ABDL or ABDR side, L channel or R channel of HT8697 is in Class AB mode, system gain Av=500k RIN.
It should be noted that the ABDL and ABDR pins support suspension, and there is a pull-up resistor inside, with a resistance value of about 250kohm.
CTRL mode setting
In Class D mode, input different voltage values at the CTRL terminal to realize 4 working modes, namely, anti-clipping mode 1 (ACF-1), anti-clipping mode 2 (ACF-2), anti-clipping function off mode (ACF-Off) and chip off mode (SD), as detailed in the following table.

CTRL mode function description
(1) ACF ON mode
In ACF-1 and ACF-2 modes, when the circuit detects that the input signal amplitude is too large and the output clipping is generated, HT8696 and HT8697 control the output to reach a maximum power level without clipping distortion by automatically adjusting the system gain, thus greatly improving the sound quality. In addition, when the supply voltage drops, the HT8696 and HT8697 can also automatically attenuate the output gain to achieve a maximum unclipped output level matching the VDD drop value.

The Attack time in ACF ON mode is the time interval from ACF starting to adjust the gain of the amplifier until the gain decayed from Av0 to 3dB away from the target attenuation gain under the condition of sudden input of a sufficiently large signal to produce output clipping. Release time refers to the interval between the disappearance of the input condition that produced the clipping and the return of the gain to Av0 in the decay state. The HT8696,7 has a maximum attenuation gain of 16dB.
ACF-1 and ACF-2 modes have different start times and release times (see table below).

(2) ACF OFF mode
In ACF-OFF mode, the ACF function is turned Off, HT8696,7 does not detect the output clipping condition, nor does it automatically adjust the system gain, and the system gain is kept constant at Av=Av0=26dB. HT8696,7 May deteriorate due to broken output distortion.
(3) SD mode
In off mode (low power standby), the chip turns off all functions and reduces power consumption to a minimum, and the output is in a weak low state (ground internally through high resistance).
click - PFFP disappears
The HT8696,7 built-in control circuit achieves comprehensive noise suppression, effectively suppressing the transient Click-Pop noise that occurs during system power-on, power-off, shutdown and wake up operations.
In order to achieve a better clatter-crackle elimination effect, in general, it is recommended to use a linear isolation capacitor CIN of 0.1µF or less. At the same time, POP noise can also achieve minimal noise through the following timing control measures to turn off the mode during power-on and power-off: · When the power is powered on, maintain the off mode, and then release the off mode after the power is stable enough.
Set the power mode to off before powering off.

Protection function
HT8696,HT8697 has the following protection functions: output overcurrent protection, on-chip overtemperature protection, power undervoltage abnormal protection.
(1) Overcurrent protection
When one output terminal is detected to the power supply, to the ground, or to the other output terminal short circuit, the overcurrent protection starts, and the output terminal switches to the high resistance state to prevent the chip from burning and damage. After the short circuit is eliminated, the chip can exit the protection mode by shutting off, waking up the chip once, or powering on the chip again.
(2) over-temperature protection
When the temperature in the chip is detected to exceed 150 ° C, the overtemperature protection is activated, and the positive and negative output terminals are switched to the weak low level state (internally through high resistance) to prevent the chip from being damaged by thermal breakdown.
(3) Undervoltage protection
When the VDD of the power supply is lower than VUVLL (1.9V), the undervoltage protection is activated, and the output terminal is in a weak low level state (internally grounded through high resistance). When the VDD is detected to be higher than VUVLH (2.2V), the protection mode is automatically released, and it enters the normal working state after the startup time TSTUP.
